The Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Ukrainian Study is created on the basis of division of Philological Faculty in January, 2005 with the purpose of perfection of preparation of specialists of Ukrainian philology, history and culture, conducting researches in the sphere of Ukrainian Study and propagating knowledge of Ukraine in Crimea (decision of Scientific Council of Taurida V.І. Vernadskiy National University of 22.12.2004, Order № 8 of 19.01.2005).
Today 345 students of day-time and 280 students of correspondence form of studies, post-graduate students study here; the highly skilled personnel – 7 Doctors of Science, 26 Candidates of Science, Associate Professors – work at the Faculty. Student self-government – student Dean's Office, headed by Ann Prudnikova, a master's degree student of the 5 course, operates actively. Student Dean's Office directs also the scientific work of students (the Head – Lyakhova Irene (4th course), cultural work (Mikhaylovska Helen (3rd course.)) Student Council, headed by Miroshnik Tetyana (master's degree student, 5th course), works out the problems of dwelling of students in the dormitory. Chairman of students’ faculty trade-union organization is Kalinicheva Maria (master's degree student, 5th course).
The faculty prepares philologists, teachers of the Ukrainian language and literature on specialities: "Linguistics" and "Literary Criticism".
There are 4 departments at the Faculty.
Department of Ukrainian Linguistics; the Head of the Department is Yuriy Fedorovich Pradid, Professor, Doctor of Philological Science, Academician of Academy of Science of Higher School of Ukraine. 3 Doctors of Science, Professors work at the Department: Yu.F. Pradid, T.M. Golosova, A.P. Zagnitko; 9 Candidates of Philological Science, Associate Professors: O.I. Andreychenko, V.P. Achilova, V.V. Vlasenko, N.F. Grozyan, V.V. Derkach, L.M. Mitrokhina, M.S. Razumeyko, L.I. Rudnicka, L.F. Scherbachuk.
Department of Standard of Ukrainian Speech; the Head of the Department is Lubov Vasylivna Savchenko, Candidate of Philological Science, Associate Professor. One Doctor of Science, Professor S.O. Sokolova; 5 Candidates of Philological Science, Associate Professors, work at the Department: L.V. Savchenko, O.M. Kozachenko, M.D. Matiiv, O.S.Maslikova, M.V. Ischuk; and 7 Assistants.
Department of Theory and History of Ukrainian Literature; the Head of the Department is Victor Ivanovich Gumenyuk, Doctor of Philological Science, Professor. 3 Doctors of Science, Professors P.M. Kirichek, V.I. Gumenyuk, A.O. Tkachenko; 5 Candidates of Philological Science, Associate Professors, work at the Department: M.Ya. Vishnyak, V.T. Gasanova, K.S. Pokotilo, M.S. Kirichek, V.V. Merzhvinskiy; and 4 Assistants.
Department of Ukrainian Study; the Head of the Department is Snizhana Pavlivna Shendrikova, Candidate of Historical Science, Associate Professor. 7 Candidates of Historical Science, Associate Professors work at the Department: H.I. Paschenya, V.M. Paschenya, M.V. Prokhorchik, S.P. Shendrikova, P.V. Shautin, S.V. Borodin. T.A. Gogunska; and 1 Assistant.
